Blogging Challenge, It’s Not Done Yet
This personal blogging challenge has definitely been difficult work. I haven’t succeeded every month by hitting a blog post for every day this year. However, some months have been a lot more and May is going to be one of those months.
I’m running another Cook Easy Foodie Blogger challenge on my Once a Week Cooking site. I created this to get my posting up and hopefully get some traffic and interaction with other bloggers. However, it’s not working in the traffic and interaction department. I think this will be the last one I do because it’s a lot of work to not get the benefit I was looking for. I’ll try something different.
This means I’m posting every day. That site alone forces me to hit my goal. BUT, I started writing a few of the posts last month to prepare for it. I was thinking I was behind, but then I started counting. I forgot a few posts I’ve put up on my personal blog this month! At this point, I’m ahead for the month even with having written 3 of the foodie posts in last month. I have 12 posts at my foodie site, 5 posts on BusyMomma.com and this post here. Today’s the 13th and I’m at a total of 18 posts for the month.
Plus, I’m not done for the night. I’m on a roll and that means GO WITH IT! I’ve missed feeling this adrenaline of getting blog posts scheduled ahead. Yes, it does give me a rush to have my sites taken care of ahead. I have to remember that.
While I haven’t hit my goal each month for blog posts, I am calling this personal blog challenge a success so far. It has gotten me writing a lot more. A ton more and I love it.
Why more blog posts is important
While I don’t believe that you need to post more than 2-3 times on any given site, the act of writing almost daily gets the creativity flowing. As you write, you come up with more ideas. More ideas for blog posts or for products.
Sure, we may be coming into the summer months and there is generally less traffic going through on a daily basis, this doesn’t mean a slow down in business. Exact opposite. This is a time to hit your target market hard. Your target market will be there even more and looking for help. Especially if you can help them save time and money. Summer schedule is taking away all their free time and school is going to start again which takes away all their money. Capitalize!
I’m going over older posts
As I’m writing my posts I’m working hard to incorporate older posts. Taking those older posts and expanding on the ideas I had there. Especially some of the posts that are really old. I’ve been blogging for a long time and those first posts weren’t that great. It’s pretty easy for me to pull the general idea from them and run with it. Then link to that original post.
While I’m at it I’m also trying to do a little updating on the original post. Google loves updated pages and posts. You know you can easily go in and write another paragraph or two in those old posts. At least change up the opening and closing sentences so google reads them as somewhat new content.
Plus when new readers find your content through google, it’s still relivant. If it’s the same content from 4 years ago it may force them to just click away. You need to go through posts here and there to make sure their information is correct.
No I don’t mean take a month and go through all your old posts. Goodness, I have so many posts that it would take me a year to go back and fix them. Just research a topic and go back over it. That’s an easier option.
As I said, I’m ahead right now. Sadly, I don’t know what my count is for the year. I didn’t pay attention to how many posts I put up last month. This is why I’m glad I switched to keeping track each month. As long as I work on being ahead on posts most months, then I know I’m going to hit my target for the year.

Catching Up On My Blog Challenge
In May and June I have to really hit it hard. July is a super busy time offline for me and much of August as well. I need to be prepared for this and have my posts scheduled.
I know I’m setting the standards high but I’d like to see 60 posts written in June so that I have July covered. How are you doing in your goals so far this year?

Looks like you really are in a busy schedule. Hope eveything will go on with you as planned.
